MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Must have a valid Arkansas driver's license.
- Must pass a written examination.
- Must pass an extensive background check.
- Must pass a fingerprint check through AFIS.
- Must pass a standard medical and vision examination.
- Must pass a physcological evaluation.
- Must pass a drug screening.
- Must pass a polygraph examination
- Ability and willingness to be on call 24 hours a day.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and prepare records.
- Demonstrate an ability to comprehend and write in the English langauge.
- Must pass a oral interview with the Sergeant, the Chief of Police, and the Police Committee.
- Must be able to succesfully complete and qualify with a department firearm (after being hired).
- Must be able to successfully complete the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (after be hired).
- Must be able to adhere and uphold the The Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.

DISQUALIFICATION LIST
If any of the following items are discovered while processing an applicant's application then they will immediately
be removed from consideration for employment with the police department:
- Any felony conviction.
- Any misdemeanor conviction, other than minor traffic violations, within the past 5 years.
- More than 3 convictions for moving violations in the past 3 years.
- Any Dishonorable, General, or Other than Honorable Discharged from any branch of the Armed Forces.
- Shall not have used, tried, tasted, experimented with, delivered, sold, or possessed any illegal
controlled substance that would constitute a misdemeanor violation of Arkansas State Law within the 3
years prior to application.
- Shall not have used, tried, tasted, experimented with, delivered, sold, or possessed any illegal
controlled substance that would constitute a felony violation of Arkansas State Law within the 5
years prior to application.
- Any conviction of the crime of Domestic Violence.
- Currently under active investigation by Federal, State, or Local authorities, or under investigation by CLEST.
- Applicants must answer truthfully and fully all questions asked of them. Any misrepresentation or
omission of any material fact on the application, during the background investigation, or in any phase
of the selection process shall disqualify the applicant. If an investigation discloses a willful
misrepresentation, omission, or falsification, the application will be rejected and the applicant
may be permanently disqualified from applying in the future for any position with the Prairie Grove
Police Department.
